The best way I find is experience. If you want to know if it works try it. If not tweak it and try again.

Leaving from Augury, the chief things you would need to get by are:

Rockshots- Disrupting shot the biggest problem here
Marrow scarabs- their vamp touch pretty much rules out 55 style builds
Nest Builders- traps and more traps- make life difficult for minions
The queen herself- lots of protection spells

That's a pretty big variety of things to have to counter. The best solo builds seem to focus on beating 1-2 types of monsters in a very specialized way.

Maybe something with minions?

Well I know its possible to duo it, I tried with my friend today. Nec/mes + W/mo

edit: I'm currently working on a warrior solo build, but i'd say its very possible with any other proffesion as, frankly, it isn't a well balanced area.

As Fred Kiwi says it is possible to duo it. I did yesterday with a friend, he was a minionmaster and I was a ranger and got the first kills. I think a warrior is best in combination with a minionmaster though.

As soon as the minionmaster got his army going, it's very easy.
